Wine Cellar Upgrade and Cooling Unit Replacement

Completed 2015

Project Overview

Old wine cellars need love too!

The client contacted us about a cooling unit that was failing in their existing wine room. The racks were in good shape but ended abruptly at the back wall and the cooling unit was exposed and unsightly.

Our solution was to replace the faulty cooling unit and to hide it behind a large, custom cut cedar louvered grill. Beneath the grill we created an additional row of racks atop a tongue & grooved cedar cabinet with mirror, adding depth to the room and a table top surface for opening bottles. On a bare section of side wall we built a floor-to-ceiling cedar column to tie together the adjacent racks to the mirrored back wall.

Custom cut cedar grill and mirrored serving cabinet provide beauty, depth and closure to this vintage wine cellar.

This custom made mirrored cabinet covers what used to be a bare wall with an exposed cooling unit. The mirror gives the room a focal point feature and a greater sense of depth. The louvered cedar grill above covers the new, quieter cooling unit and is supported by an additional rows of racks. We created the cedar column on the left wall to tie all the racks together at the back focal wall.

Warm Timber was outstanding in every respect and we couldn't be more pleased. The ultimate compliment I can pay, which I say sincerely, is that as much as we cared about the quality of the work and the finished product it seemed that John cared just as much. I would enthusiastically recommend this company without any hesitation.
